NORTHWEST ARKANSAS JET SETS TO FUN IN THE SUN!
November 24, 2009

BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Northwest Arkansas residents take off today for the fun and sun of Orlando, Fla. as low-fare airline Allegiant Air inaugurates the only nonstop service from Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport to the Sunshine State. To launch the new service, the low-cost airline is offering a special $59.99* one-way fare to Orlando.

To celebrate the beginning of service to Orlando, Allegiant has donated 10 roundtrip tickets to Sunshine School. Since 1958 Sunshine School has been serving people in Northwest Arkansas who have developmental disabilities or delays and children who are "at risk." The disabilities may include Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Mental Retardation and Down Syndrome. Although most of the people Sunshine School serve are between the ages of birth to five, they serve all age groups. The school will be able to use the tickets for fundraising purposes, to send children to the Magic Kingdom or in whatever way will benefit the organization the most.

“We are extremely pleased to again expand the Allegiant brand of low-fare, nonstop jet service to Northwest Arkansas,” Maurice J. Gallagher Jr., Allegiant Travel Company CEO, said. “This is an exciting new addition for our airline and our customers as we launch the only low-cost service between Northwest Arkansas and Orlando.”

The new service operates twice weekly, with service Sunday and Thursday. Flights depart Northwest Arkansas at 6:15 p.m. arriving at Orlando Sanford International Airport at 9:35 p.m. Flights leaving Orlando depart at 4 p.m. arriving in Northwest Arkansas at 5:35 p.m. (all flight times are local). Allegiant Air also provides nonstop service from Northwest Arkansas to Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

“For some time, the Board has focused on the importance of attracting a low-cost air carrier to our market, and today we celebrate the success of those efforts,” Stan Green, chairman of the Airport Authority’s Board of Directors, said. “I am confident the residents of our region will find this new scheduled service to Orlando an excellent addition to their travel options. We look forward to a long and successful business partnership with Allegiant for the benefit of the airport and our region.”

Strong demand from customers and input from community leaders indicate Northwest Arkansas will welcome the new nonstop flights and low fares to Orlando. The new service offers the community another low-cost alternative to connecting flights and long drives to other airports.
The company offers low-cost air and hotel packages with 59 area resorts with hotels in Orlando area, including Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort and The Hilton, located in the Walt Disney World Resort. The company also provides amusement park tickets and low-cost car rental service through its partnership with Alamo Rent A Car.
